Floyd served as a Technical Sergeant & Engineer on B-24H "Boots" (#42-50386), 850th Bomber Squadron, 801st Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in St. Louis County, Minnesota prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on December 7, 1942 at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. He was noted as being employed as a mechanic and also as Single, without dependents.

Floyd was "Killed In Action" when his B-24, after taking off from Harrington, was shot down by an ME110 night fighter approximately 35 miles south of Paris, France during the war. He was awarded a Air Medal and a Purple Heart.
