oe Gould was flying a bombing mission to Calais, France, serving as the navigator on a Marauder, when the plane was shot down. Joe landed in a minefield and was captured by the Germans. He served the remainder of the war as a POW in Stalag Luft 3, Sagan-Silesia Bavaria.
