Staff Sergeant Condit was the civil engineer of a C-119C Flying Boxcar transport assigned to the 61st Troop Carrier Squadron, 314th Troop Carrier Group at Ashiya Air Force Base, Japan. On April 29, 1952, the plane was enroute from Atsugi Air Base to Ashiya, when it crashed into a mountain, killing all four on board. Staff Sergeant Condit was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
