eacetime Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He entered the US Navy in Massachusetts and served as a Ordinary Seaman. He citation reads "On board the USS Plymouth, Halifax Harbor, Nova Scotia, 7 August 1876. Acting gallantly, Connolly suceeded in rescuing a citizen from drowning on this date".
