amuel Barron, a distinguished visitor to Greensboro at the time, to his daughter, Imogene Barron, care of Paymaster DeBree, Richmond Va. Barron was Captain in the C.S.A. Navy in charge of Naval defenses in N.Carolina & Va. He defended Cape Hatteras, N.C., where he was captured & later exchanged. Eventually, he was appointed Flag Officer commanding the C.S.A. Naval forces in Europe until his resignation from duty Feb 28, 1865.
