Son of Bennie Alonzo Whitmore and Constance Winnifred Welty. He was born on October 2, 1921 in Oil City, Butler County, Kansas County, USA and went missing when he and his crew were shot down over the Marshall Islands in December 1943. They were all declared dead on January 12, 1946.

It was known some time later that he and two of the other crew members had survived the crash when they had been shot down because the Japanese made reference to them in some of the documents that were found on Jaluit, one of the Marshall Islands. Probably the one where they had been held and tortured untill they were dead.

I wish there was some way to go back to this Island to find our missing men before it is to late to match their DNA to any living family. It has been 71 years since they crashed, so time is running out.

From what I understand, they were simply on a photo taking mission of the Marshall Islands when they were shot down. Such a waste…
