on of Benjamin Beatty (1745-1831) and Martha Chamberlain (1755-1845). Born in York Co., PA, Hamilton Beatty was a soldier in the War of 1812. In Sep. 1817, he married Sarah Anderson. The Beattys had six known children: Nancy Tittle; Benjamin; John; Martha Chamberlain; William Anderson; and Sarah Ann. The family resided in Unity Twp., Westmoreland Co. Hamilton was a Presbyterian, and was a member of the church board of elders for more than five decades. After his death, his widow collected a government pension based on his early military service.
