ames William Gadsden (b. 6 Oct 1806) died 7 Jan 1853. Three years later, on 4 Feb 1856, his wife Emma Georgianna Gadsden died. In estate sales from February to June of 1856, slaves in her estate (some of them listed in James W. Gadsden's estate in 1853) were sold by auctioneer Louis DeSaussure and the firm of Capers & Heyward, in Charleston.
