After having survived the Bataan Death March, he was beaten and died of malaria.
Burial- May 1, 1942
unknown, presumably at Camp O'Donnell. However, he has a "Burial Cross" at a cemetery in Manila.
Feb. 2015: Found that supposedly, Elmer's "cross" at the American Military Cemetery in Manila also holds his remains. So, burial at Camp O'Donnell may be unlikely.
