These records reflect the application process and administration of the Tasmanian Soldier Settlement Scheme for soldiers returning from the First World War. The Scheme was part of a national effort to re-settle soldiers on agricultural land so that they could become farmers. Properties were acquired in many areas of the state and the returned soldiers applied to purchase or lease by filling out standard forms with certain criteria that had to be met.
