BAKER Levi S. 1857 residence (and employer?)

Baker Levi S. clerk, b[oards] 107 W. Madison. Chicago City Directory 1857, page 32. Note: this directory is poorly organized and alphabetized. The address for L. S. Baker listed below this entry is the same as in 1856. It is possible that the "Baker L. S. weighman, (R. P. Burlingame)" is the same as our Levi Baker, though this is not certain. Burlingame operated storage & commission businesses, including grain elevators, at the Illinois Central R.R. and the Galena & Chicago Union R. R.

On the other hand, "clerk" and "weighman" seem to be distinct and different occupations. The second "Baker L. S." may well be a different man entirely. The 1850 and 1860 federal censuses list only one possible L. S. Baker, so this remains unclear.
