Gets Expert's Badge

CAMP BOWIE, Texas -- (Special) -- Second Lieut. Robert T. Van Kleeck of Amsterdam, N. Y., had been awarded the expert Infantryman badge, in ceremonies held at Camp Bowie, where he is a member of the 13th Armored Division.

Lieut. Van Kleeck is a graduate of the Cavalry Officer Candidate School at Fort Riley, Kan., and has served with the Military Police Battalion which handled the Jap situation at Tule Lake, Calif. He is now serving with the 67th Armored Infantry Battalion as platoon leader of an assault gun platoon. Lieut. Van Kleeck entered the service in February, 1939, at Albany, N. Y. He has been serving with the 13th Armored Division since March, 1944. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas L. Van Kleeck, 39 McDonnell Street, Amsterdam, N. Y.
