The 2nd site (Just to the Left) is the wrong Barrett BUT has this Silas "AL" Barrett's CORRECT Enlistment Records THIS HAS CORRECT BIRTH STATE and YEAR.

Al was born in 1925 OR 1926 in Conn.

Silas AL Barrett joined the Army in Hartford, Conn. 8 Feb. 1943….. His year of birth is actually 1925, he lived with his family at RFD Columbia, Conn.

He was assigned to the AAC, learned to be a GUNNER, and joined the 321stBG, 447thBS, and went over to the MTO and flew as Gunner in the B-25 Mitchells.

That tragic day of 6 Feb. 1945, he was in the lead ship of the 1st Element, his ship and the others up front with him were shot-down over the Target of Rovereto, Italy. The Pilot, Lt Earl Remmel and Co-Pilot Lt Leslie Speer stayed with the ship, allowing the rest to bail out, then were KIA when the ship crashed into the ground.

The Crew were detained at Stalag Luft 3 Sagan-Silesia Bavaria (Moved to Nuerenburg-Langwasser) 49-11. 16 June, 1945.
