Lois Lurel Oliver Crabtree, 89, of Ceres, Va., left her loving family and friends and went to her rest August 1, 2009. She was preceded in death by her parents, Minor and Ethel Hypes Oliver and two brothers, Nelson and Wayne Oliver. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Andrew Bane Crabtree, of the home; a daughter, Iris Lynn Crabtree Pruett and husband, H. Michael Pruett, of Ceres; three grandchildren, Michael and Sarah Pruett, and Erin and Phillip Buttery; two great-grandchildren, Stephanie and Andy Blankenship; two sisters-in-law, Thelma Oliver and Frances Oliver; several nieces and nephews, and many friends also survive. She received a B.S. Degree from Madison College, now James Madison University, in Harrisonburg, Va., with a degree in Home Economics. She taught in Bland and Craig Counties for a number of years. She was an advisor to the Future Homemakers of America. Lois was a member of the Sharon Lutheran Church and was their secretary for a number of years. She was also a charter member of the Bland County Retired Teachers Association, and a member of the Ceres Alumni Association. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 3, 2009 at 7 p.m. at the Highland Funeral Chapel in Bland, Va., with the Rev. Kathy Haga officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until service time Monday evening, at the funeral Home. An interment service will be held Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. at the Sharon Lutheran Cemetery in Ceres, Va.
