FAIRVIEW, IL - Josiah W. "Si" Cattron, 86, of 11294 E. Co. 17 Hwy, died at 4:41 p.m. Friday June 5, 2009 at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria, IL.

He was born on July 7, 1922 in Fairview to Conrad Lee and Nora Pearl (White) Cattron. He married Elizabeth "B.J." Burnside on April 8, 1950 in Fairview. She preceded him in death on June 22, 2004. His son Conrad Cattron also preceded him in death.

Surviving are two daughters, Janet Cattron of Bushnell and Susan (Steve) Kiser of Peoria, daughter in law Nancy Cattron of Ellisville and one granddaughter Nichole Cattron of Ellisville, one sister Inez Massieon of Durango, Colo.

Si was a farmer, Lennox Air and Heating dealer for many years, a Realtor, and had worked for the State of Illinois driver's license facility. He was past secretary of the Illinois Suffolk Breeders Association and a 4-H leader for many years. He attended Monmouth College, majoring in physics.

He was a member of the Fairview Masonic Lodge, past worthy patron of Order of Eastern Star in Fairview, Scottish Rite Bodies Valley of Peoria and Shriners of Peoria.

He was a WW II and Korean War Army Air Force veteran serving for 14 years and past commander and member of the Fairview American Legion Post #644.

Si was a huge Cubs fan.

A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the Fairview Reformed Church, of which he was life long member. Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be no visitation. A potluck dinner will be held at the church fellowship hall following the commital service. Burial of ashes with military honors will be at Fairview Cemetery.

The family requests no flowers, in lieu contributions may be made to his granddaughter's education fund c/o Fairview State Bank.

Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton is in charge of arrangements.
