Census records show that his sons believe Solomon and their mother were born in North Carolina. However, they could have been in Tenn which was part of North Carolina for many years. Solomon died in 1836 in Meigs county which was formed from Rhea county just the year before in 1835.

The only children that I have proof of are Tipton O. who is listed as the administrator of his father's will and Clement Wood.

Martha Tillery Wood is probably not a child of Solomon. She was called Martha Rogers Wood before she married Charles Tillery in 1849. She was probably married to someone named Wood who died. She was possibly the wife of Solomon Wood who died about 1850 in Meigs County, TN.

1787—land grant to Solomon Wood in Blount County, TN. If this man is our Solomon O. Wood, father of Tipton O. Wood and Clement Wood, then he is probably not the same Solomon Wood listed below as born in 1777, the son of Henry and Nancy Wood. It is possible for a man to have a land grant in 1787 and have a son in 1807, twenty years later. However, Tipton Wood said he was born in the Cumberland Gap which is farther north than Blount County, Tenn. I assumed he was born on his father's journey into Tennessee from North Carolina. The Cumberland Gap was on the trail into Tennessee from both Virginia and North Carolina.
