Talbot Co. was formed in 1662 from Kent Co. Queen Annes was formed in 1706 from Talbot. Caroline was formed in 1773 from Dorchester & Queen Anne's. Thus, the family may have remained basically in the same place but been listed in different counties.

Died at age 63 in Apr 1850 of consumption (tuberculosis). Occupation was farmer.

I believe he was married at least twice. He left a widow named Deborah with a newborn son and four children to care for when he died. At that same time, 1850, he left sons named Samuel, Thomas, Nathan and William Daniel Roe, who was about 19 years of age. He also left a daughter named Elizabeth Ann Jump and a granddaughter named Elizabeth Ann Saulsbury.

There is a record of a marriage between Deborah Saulsbury and Thomas Roe, 18 Mar 1835 in Caroline County, Maryland.

There were three Thomas Roe's in the area at this time. Our ancestor is the Thomas Roe who died in 1799 and owned a tract called Lloyd's Regulation and left these heirs: William Roe, Samuel Roe, Thomas Roe, John Roe and Deborah Roe (minor) and Abner Roe (minor). Lloyd's Regulation was on the road leading into Gay Street in Denton, county seat of Caroline County. Lloyd's Regulation was previously called Shadwell.

Acknowledged before O.C. Jones, Thomas J. Rich--the women privately examined. (The woman swore that she transferred land willingly and freely and without the influence by her husband.)

O437 is the land reference for Lloyd's Regulation. Samuel Fountain deeded that to Thomas Roe.

I think Elizabeth Fountain was the first wife of Thomas Roe. They married in Caroline County, MD on 10 Sep 1816. I believe this because of the above listed deed from Samuel Fountain to Thomas Roe and also because the dates fit well. Also, the first grandchild was named Elizabeth Saulsbury. I think she was named after her grandmother, Elizabeth Fountain.

She must have died before 1835 since Thomas remarried to Deborah Saulsbury on 18 Mar 1835 in Caroline County, MD. They were sealed in Provo on 4 Apr 1990. She was his wife when he died in 1850.

The baby born posthumously may have been named Henry F. Roe.

O437 is the land reference for Lloyd's Regulation. Samuel Fountain deeded that to Thomas Roe.

"Chancery 5 page 112: 1 July 1867: Samuel Fountain was a trustee of William Roe and he sold Rowbottoms Range also called Rothbottoms Range to Thomas Roe who died in 1850. Charles E. Roe vs. Deborah Medford, Alexander Roe, Frederick Roe, Henry F. Roe, Elisha Lord, Elizabeth A. Roe and R.C. Carter." Thomas Roe owned about 160 acres of land. Deborah Medford sold her dower of 5/11 to R. C. Carter.

My earliest Roe is Thomas Roe (1662-1712) m. Francis Richardson, probably Queen Anne's Co. MD. Their children were Thomas Roe m. Abigail, William Roe m. Mary Jones, John Roe m. Martha, Mary Roe m. Waters, Frances Roe m. Thomas Lane. I have done extensive research on this family for 10 years and have much information.

There is an 1850 census of Caroline county, Maryland that shows Thomas Roe, labourer, age 65 living with Ann Miller, age 36. No indication of the relationship.

Roe of Queen Anne's county, may and they are hereby au- thorized to straighten that part of the public road leading from Bullock town to Keene's coop roads, which passed between and divided their farms, and the said William R. Keene and Thomas Roe shall make the new part of the road the same width as the old road, and shall put the same in good order and condition, and when the said road shall be straightened and put in good order and condition, they shall signify the fact to the levy court of Queen Anne's county and Caroline county respectively, and the said courts shall
