321stBG,447thBS, Lt. George R Morrison, Jr. Santa Rosa, CA. In 1942, at Enlistment he lived at "2618 20th Street, Bakersfield CA." George completed one year of college and was semiskilled in occupation in production of Petroleum, born in 1918 in Kern County, CA. Enlisted in the Army on 21 Jan. 1941 in Los Angeles and was still single at enlistment.

Lt Morrison flew 43 Combat Missions in the B-25 Mitchell Medium Bomber. He flew in ships like the "Ave Maria" #4327498 Tail 71 and #43-27643 Tail # 60 (name unknown) and #43-4079, the "Little David".

Friday 20 April, 1945 Lt Morrison flew Combat as FLIGHT LEADER to bomb Salerno RR Bridge. 24 April, 1945 Lt Morrison again was FLIGHT LEADER on Combat Mission to Zibello Ferry Terminals.

Arrived in the EAME /Mediterranean Theatre on 28 Nov. 1944

8 March, 1945 he earned his DFC.

He had the EAME Theatre Ribbon (Medal) with 2 Bronze Stars (The "PO Valley" and the "North Apennines Mountains")
He was awarded the DFC, the Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters. 43 Combat Missions.

He was re-assigned to go Home to the ZI on 13 June, 1945.
He left the MTO on 21 June and arrived in the USA on 30 June, 1945.

He remained active until late (as compared to most) until 30 December, 1945.

Thank you so much to replying to my e-mail. My father is George R. Morrison, Jr, and his rank was 1st Lieutenant. His ASN is 01 166 334, and he served during the time period July 7, 1942 to December 29, 1945. He is 93 years old and in very good health for his age except he does have mild dementia………I have begun to help care for him since my mother passed away in 2009 at the age of 90. I have recently come across a lot of information that he kept as I have been cleaning out drawers, closets, etc. including his orders to dispatch overseas in October 27, 1944. He was a B-25 pilot and the orders list the names of his entire flight crew. I have also discovered orders instructing him what to do upon his return to the United States and how he should handle any requests to speak with the press. They give a very detailed summary as to the events that occurred and what information he should provide to any member of the press. I would be happy to provide you copies of this and any other information I come across if you would like. Thank you again and I look forward to hearing from you.
