Retired bottling plant manager, decorated WWII veteran

Alger Lee Harrison, age 84, of Nashville, Ark., passed away Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005, in a Little Rock hospital. He was born March 9, 1920, in Nashville, to the late Thomas Marion and Mary Emma Williams Harrison.

He was a retired plant manager with the local Coca-Cola Bottling Co., in Nashville. Mr. Harrison was an Army veteran of World War II where he received numerous medals, including a Purple Heart, 4 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal and a European-African Middle Eastern Theater medal, also four Overseas Bars. He had served in Africa and Italy with the 755th Tank Battalion.

Mr. Harrison was a member and Deacon at County Line Baptist Church in Nashville. He was also the County Line Cemetery Sexton for several years.

He loved farming, tending to his cattle, hunting and fishing. He always loved to work in his garden and loved to tinker with old machines.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Clell Harrison, and his first wife, Bessie Keaster Harrison.

Survivors include: his wife of more than 58 years, Charlie Puckett Harrison of Nashville; two daughters, Patsy Helen Harrison and husband Dickey Ray Smith of Winston, Ore., and Marion Jean Harrison and husband Michael Millard Bratton of Texarkana, Texas; two sisters, Norma Harrison of Nashville and Lila Hallmark of Nashville; one sister-in-law, Lavell Harrison of Texarkana, Ark.; a special friend, O.D. and wife Ann Hale of Nashville; three grandchildren, Michael Smith and wife Barbara of Winston, Ore., Bryan Smith and wife Stephanie of Sutherland, Ore., and Jeffrey Bratton of Little Rock; two great-grandchildren, Brittany and Jayne Smith; and a host of other family and friends.

Services were scheduled at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23 in County Line Baptist Church with Bro. James Spradlin officiating. Burial was in County Line Cemetery under the direction of Nashville Funeral Home.
