William Boyd Wagers Jr., 83, of Yorktown, died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2007, of heart failure. A native of Huntington,W.Va., he attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute and Marshall College. He was a combat veteran of WWII. He and his wife moved to Oak Island,N.C., in 1987 and later moved to Yorktown in 2002. Predeceased by his son, Boyd Wagers, Mr.Wagers is survived by his wife, Betty Jo Wagers, and his son, Steve Nelson. A private interment will take place in Peninsula Memorial Park. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 11835 Cannon Blvd., Suite A-102, Newport News,VA 23606. Arrangements are by Weymouth Funeral Home.
