From basic training at Camp Mackall, N.C., then to Camp Polk, LA., on to Camp Stoneman, CA for more training. They left port aboard USAT Camp Mendocino heading toward the Philippines in May 1944.

May 15, 1944 - Crossed the equator on the ship

May 20, 1944 - Passed the islands of Samoa

May 21, 1944 - Crossed the international date line

May 23, 1944 - Catalina flying boat circled the ship several times

May 29, 1944 - Anchored in Milne Bay, New Guinea

May 31, 1944 - Left Milne Bay and arrived in Oro Bay, New Guinea

June 1, 1944 - Transported to camp area by amphibious ducks

June 21, 1944 - Regiment name officially changed to 187th Paraglider Infantry and men continue to train in jump school to prepare for battle. The men were also making camp and continued to improve camp facilities.

September 21, 1944 - Left camp for a 2 and 1/2 day exercise in jungle warfare training.

November 3, 1944 - Assigned MOS 605 (Heavy Machine Gunner)

November 9, 1944 - Left camp, boarded USS Cambria and headed up the coast on Nov. 11

November 18, 1944 - Arrived at San Pedro Bay, Leyte Gulf was also at Burauen

January 27, 1945 - Enroute to new station

February 2, 1945 - Nasugbu, Luzon, Philippine Islands

April 14, 1945 - Lipa, Luzon

May 31, 1945 - Manila, Luzon

July 16, 1945 - Company returned to Lipa

July 20 - 22, 1945 - Transferred from HQ Company to Company M

August 13 - 19, 1945 - Company M left Lipa airfield and arrived in Naha Okinawa, Japan

September 3, 1945 - Left Kadena Airport Okinawa and arrived in Atsugi Airdrome Honahu Japan

September 17, 1945 - Left Atsugi Airdrome for Sendai
