  • Sherman Milton Mounts PFC~ Army Enlisted Date: December 31, 1942
    • 644th Tank Destroyer Battalion based in Ireland first for maneuvers at Kill Water Castle
    • Landed on Omaha Beach in France and fought through France and into Germany
    • After suffering Battle Fatigue while fighting in Germany he was sent to a Belgium hospital to recuperate
    • After recuperating he was the driver of the command car for Major Larsen until his discharge from the Army
    • He was awarded:
      • 4 gold stars for the 4 major battles he fought
      • 4 gold stripes, 1 for every 6 months serving overseas
      • A Good Conduct Medal
      • A Marksmanship Medal
