GASTON - Ralph W. Raines Sr., 90, died Feb. 2, 2011, at Love and Care 2 in Happy Valley.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m., Feb. 10, at Forest View Cemetery, 1161 W. Pacific Ave., in Forest Grove.

Ralph Waldo Raines was born June 15, 1920, in Gaston, to Waldo E. and Idus (Gabriel) Raines. He graduated from Forest Grove High School in 1938.

He was a Veteran of World War II, and earned the Distinguished Flying Cross.

He married Helen Doppleb on Sept. 1, 1946, in Macksburg. They lived in Forest Grove until 1972, then moved to Gaston.

He owned and operated the Raines Tree Farm in Gaston.

He enjoyed the outdoors, the woods and feeding the animals on his property. He was an OSU Beaver fan.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen.
