Building an Air Base

Winfield, KS

When Chester Miller arrived at what was to become Strother Field at Windfield, KS there was nothing but a large open field and no buildings. They lived in tents until the barracks and other buildings were built. When the base was operational Chester was a Sergeant in charge of parachutes for the base.

There is a yearbook for the base during that period and Chester had a copy. The family still has it.
