Sam, the B-25 Combat Pilot;
Sam was a B-25 Mitchell Combat Pilot in the Mediterranean Theatre with the 321st Bomb Group, 446th Bomb Squadron from June, 1943 to Feb. 1944. He wore the EAME Theatre Ribbon (Rome-Arno and Naples-Foggia), the Air Medal with 7 Oak Leaves, and the 321st Group earned a Distinguished Unit Citation.
_ The 321st Bomb Group was an award winner. famous for the "Gen Bob Knapp's Flight-over the Atlantic, 58th ships in a single mass without loss/ the Southern Route. Sam was in one of the very 1st replacement Crews.... I named some of the B-25's that he flew, (below) as well as his 1st Mission and his last, and his reassignment to the ZI from Combat._ _ I have had an extremely busy day, followed by one just like it yesterday..... I will be back with more details for you :) My sympathy for your loss, please also tell the family and sometime, I will hope that there will be other pictures and documents ... not only a wonderful help for HIS unit History, like how you found the "Maybe". . . Others did too and I will place ALL of the men in his Crew picture :) :)_
