Riley Sultzer, Cherokee name, Yadun, was my father-in-law. From the very first day I met him we hit it off. Never was there a day when he nor I were ever mad at each other, not even aggravated at each other. Riley was teaching me Cherokee. He was a full blood Cherokee. Lacy Simmons, I now believe was actually his great grand uncle and Lally Simmons was his great grandfather. Riley's father was Wilburn Sultzer, his grandfather was Sparrow Sultzer and Lally was Sparrow's father. Simmons was the English name given to my Sultzer family line. In researching documents I have found Sultzer spelled as Sulsah, Salsah, and Sultzer. We have documented proof of our Cherokee ancestry with roll numbers listed in the Dawes Commission. This researcher has noted Sulsah and wife on the 1835 Henderson list. Riley was a grand person and as long as I live I will never forget him.
