Foster flew in numerous combat missions over Nazi-held Europe; 191 missions were flown from the base and 400 U.S. airmen died serving there. Some of his positions: Deputy Commander of Maintenance for the SAC Bomb Wing at Hunter Air Base; Chief of Maintenance Procedures for 1st STRATAD at Vandenburg AFB; Chief of Missile Maintenance Training at Offutt AFB; Director of Logistics at VAFB.
