Glenn Allen Marble, Jr., age 84, of Midway, FL, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2002, at a Gulf Breeze Nursing Home. Mr. Marble was a native of Pensacola and was a charter member of Navarre First Baptist Church. He had served 14 years in the U. S. Navy and was in the South Pacific during World War II on board the destroyed USS Beale as a Chief Machinist. After the war, Mr. Marble worked in civil service at the Naval Air Station Public Works Dept. as inspector and also as planner and estimator. He retired after 33 years of service. Mr. Marble resided in Midway since 1957 and was instrumental in giving the name of Midway to the county authorities. He helped start the Midway Fire Dept., which began with a surplus tanker truck from NAS. Glenn worked in search & rescue for 10 years. He also served as Civil Defense Director for Santa Rosa County for a few years.

He was married to the late Alice P. Marble and was preceded in death by his sister Louise Pearce of White Castle, L.A. and brothers, James (Jimmy) Marble of Baton Rouge, L.A., and George (Elmer) Marble of Pensacola.

He is survived by a daughter, Glenda Marble Newsom & husband Alex of Navarre; son, Wilson Marble & wife Marge of Pace, daughter, Marita Marble Blanchet & husband Glenn of Belview; nine grandchildren, Tim & David Holland, Onns, Tasha, and Scott Blanchet, Wil, Michael, Elisa, and Ban Marble; 16 great-grandchildren; brother, Ernest Marble of Jacksonville, N. C.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 22, 2002, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South with Pastor Bob Moritz officiating. Internment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be members of Midway Fire Dept.
Honorary pall bearers will be grandsons: Tim & David Holland, Wil, Michael & Ben Marble, Chris & Scott Blanchet.

Faith Chapel Funeral Home, 100 Beverly Pkwy., is in charge of arrangements.
