Robert Wiley Chester Sr. of Cape Coral, Florida died peacefully in Port Charlotte, Florida on 27 Oct 2018 at the age of 91.

He is survived by his three siblings, ten children, thirty-nine grandchildren, and eighteen great grandchildren.

Robert is preceded in death by his father Arthur Malbridge Chester Sr. of Sarasota, Florida, mother Martha Augusta Schwendt of Modesto, California, Brother Arthur Malbridge Chester Jr. of Houston, Texas and grandson Nicholas Jan Chester of Seattle, Washington.
Robert was born on 2 Aug 1927 in Chicago Illinois. He graduated from Sam Houston High School in Houston, Texas, class of 1944. He graduated from University of Houston class of 1959 with a Bachelor of Science in Graphic Arts Management and graduated from the University of Houston class of 1963 with a Master of Business Administration.

Robert served honorably with United States Marine Corps during World War II. He served in the Mediterranean and China Theater from1945-1947 on the USS Princeton (CV-37). He was part of the escort for Philippines President Manuel Quezon on the USS Princeton (CV-37) in July 1946. Robert was called back to duty during the Korean War in July 1950. Landing in Inchon Korea, his unit was forward deployed to the Chosen Reservoir. Wounded in December 1950 during the Retrograde from Chongjin-up, Hamgyong-namdo, North Korea.

Robert spent a lifetime in the printing and lithographic field, beginning at age 16 in Houston, Texas for the war department. He then assisted in the print shop aboard the USS Princeton (CV-37) between the years 1945-1947. When he returned to civilian life, he continued his career in the printing industry at Ridgeway, Shell Research and Development, Malnove, and General Dynamics, before starting his own printing businesses which he ran successfully for many years.
Robert was a devoted Catholic, converting to Catholicism in 1975. He supported and was involved with numerous Catholic charities and Pro-Life organizations. He was known for his generosity for providing printing for Mother Teresa in Calcutta India, whom he had tremendous respect and admiration for. He was also a member of both the Knights of Columbus and the Lions Club. An avid patriot throughout his life, Robert supported the Constitution and diligently voted in every election.
A visitation is scheduled on Tuesday, November 6th. Family at 4:00 pm, Friends at 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 pm with Rosary/Wake Service at 6:00 pm at Carter-Conley Funeral Home, 13701 Corpus Christi Street, Houston, Texas 77015, 713-455-5100.
