Robert "Gene" Hagie, 45, of 14662 N. Loveland Road died at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2005, at 16650 Russell Road, Newport Township.

He was born July 14, 1959, in Marion, Ind., to Robert and Roxie Toncray Hagie.

Surviving are his mother, Roxie Pollitt of Canton; four brothers, Donald (and Kandy) Pollitt and Chris (and Lauri) Hagie, both of Lewistown, and Bobby (and Carla) Hagie and James (and Joni) Hagie, both of Ohio; and two sisters, Tabatha Johnson and Becki (and Corey) Perkins, both of Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his father; his stepfather, Perry Pollitt; and one sister.

He was an over-the-road truck driver for more than 18 years, last working for Merit Transportation in Omaha, Neb.

He attended Maples Mill United Methodist Church in Maples Mill.

He was a Future Farmers of America officer.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton, where visitation will be one hour before. The Rev. Bill Bunnage will officiate. Burial will be in Coal Creek Dunkard Cemetery in rural Farmington.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
