William Brewer Moore was a soldier during civil war. He was born on 1839 in Virginia. William served as a soldier for 4 years. Civil War was fought from 1861-1865, to determine the integrity of the United States of America as it defeated the bid for independence by the break way Confederate States of America. The life of soldiers in the camp was very hard. They didn't get variety of food and also they didn't sleep well at night.

I looked for the 1860 census for William Brewer Moore. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the 1860 census for him. The 1860 census provides particulars on the domestics in their place of employment, while making possible the reconstitution of their families of origin residing on surrounding farmlands. It gave us information about their race, family members, sex, age as of the census day, birthplace, occupation of a person, and physical appearance.

In fold3 service records of confederate soldiers, I searched for his record and there were 12 notecards listed. The number of the notecards are 50798817, 8910, 8960, 9055, 9167, 9269, 9371, 9481, 9594, 9703, 9808, and 49006096. He was in Company D, 6th Virginia Cavalry. He was listed on the Company Mustard Roll for September and October, 1861. He was first enlisted on May 15, 1861 at Harpeus Ferry by Captain Hardesty for 1 year. He was last paid by Maj. Field on July 1, 1861 and he was present. The Company was formerly (1st) Company D, 1st Regiment Virginia Cavalry. The 6th Regiment Virginia Cavalry was originally formed of seven independent companies which were assigned by S.O.NO.376.A. $ I.G.O., dated September 12, 1861. Three other companies were subsequently added and the regiment completed the organization in November, 1861. He was a private sergeant and listed on the Company Muster Roll for November and December, 1861 and last paid by Captain Carter on November 1, 1861. He was present. In 1862 he became a 3rd sergeant and in the Company Muster Roll for May and June, 1862, He re-enlisted on May 18 at Warrenton Junction by Captain Nelson for 2 years. He was last paid on April 30 and June 30, 1862 and he was present in both dates. In the Company Muster Roll for January and February, 1863, He enlisted on May 18 at Warrenton Junction by Captain Nelson for 2 years and last paid on October 31, December 30, and June 30 by Captain Carter. He was present as always. In 1864, he was listed on the Company Muster Roll for July and august, 1864 and he was enlisted on February 9 at Orange A, H, by Captain Richard for the war. He last paid on June 30 and April 30, 1864 by Captain Carter and he was present. List of prisoners of war paroled April 19 and 20, 1865, at various places in Virginia and West Virginia. He got the receipt for clothing on May 2 and May 19, 1864. He went to Chimborazo Hospital, Richmond VA on September 13, 1864.

There was a Battle of Brandy Station during civil war. It was the largest battle takes place on America soil. It was fought on June 9, 1863 in Virginia by the Union cavalry and Confederate cavalry. William Moore was fought on the Confederate side. The Confederate cavalry was led by J.E.B Stuart and the Union cavalry was led by Alfred Pleasanton. The other battle was Battle of Gettysburg. It was from July 1- 3, 1863. It is considered the most important engagement of the American Civil War. After a great victory over Union forces at Chancellorsville, General Robert E. Lee marched his Army of Northern Virginia into Pennsylvanian late June 1863. On July 1, the advancing Confederates (William Moore’s side) clashed with the Union's Army of the Potomac at the crossroads town of Gettysburg.

In conclusion, William Moore was died on 4/1/1865 during the war and there is no information how he died. During Civil War 620,000 soldiers died from combat, accident, starvation, and disease. In this war the Northern armies were victorious, and the rebellious states returned to the union. I have so much respect for all the soldiers who have died fighting to keep their country safe and we have to remember them always.
