Combat veteran of WWI. Unfortunately sustained mustard gas injuries in trench warfare in France. Served with 310th Infantry, 78th Division of US Army. Recruit training at Camp Dix in New Jersey.

Known to be a good swimmer and athlete.

Married for several years to Barbara Elizabeth (Lax) Weber with whom he had a son in 1919 named Charles A Weber.

Charlie eventually died prematurely due to his war injuries in early 1921 at the home of his in-laws: Albert and Barbara (Glenfield) Lax in Jersey City. He was only 24 years old.
