J. G. Fry III was known as "Pete" by his friends and family, most often "Little Pete, " as his dad, J.G. Fry Jr. was also called Pete, or Big Pete in his later years.

Little Pete graduated from Texas A & M as a Second Lt. in 1939. He had served in the Corps, as all Aggies had to do back then. His mother's sister, Aunt Virginia McFarland, had a banner mfg company, and she made the very first Aggie blanket for the very first Aggie mascot, Reville. Pete, my dad, presented it to that very first pup, Reville, which he or she wore at every game and event. Sadly, although blankets from ensuing years are now preserved in the A & M Corps Museum, that first blanket wasn't saved. And as an added note, Pete's aunt, known as "Aunt Zizzie", was the mother of famous child movie actor, "Spanky McFarland" of the "Our Gang Comedies/Little Rascals" fame back in the early motion picture days. Pete's mother, Dorothy Phillips Fry "Dottie" was the person who brought Spanky to the attention of the director of the films, and thus launched Spanky's childhood movie career.
