James McCrory was my great - great grandfather. Born May 15, 1758 in County Antrim Ireland, near a town called Portglenone on the beg water in a place called Bellaghy. He sailed from Belfast and landed at Baltimore July 1, 1775, enlisted in the Continental Army in 1776, was in the battles of Brandywine and German town and wintered at Valley Forge. The above was written by his own hand in his Bible which is in my possession.

He spelled phonetically. In the Bible it appears actually as: "I was born in County Antrim near town called Portlanone on the bag water in a place called Llargy. Sailed from Belfast in the year 1775 landed at Baltimore First of July 1775 Com to Gilford Cort-Listed in the Contilentals North Carolina for Durin the War. Was in the Batle of Brand Wine at Germanton Wentrid at the Balley Forge Pencilveny." Robert H. McCrory of Ardmore OK

McCrory, James Soldier of the American Revolution. Buried at "Old Bethany Church" (primitive Baptist) near town of Vienna in Pickens County.

Deceased was a soldier of the Revolution and

was at the battles of Germantown, Brandywine

and Guilford Courthouse and was one of

Served his Country faithfully during the war.
