According to his stone (read in 1982) he was 79 years, 9 months and 9 days old when he died putting his birth at 10-1-1759.
According to the Va land, marriage and probate records he was the son of William and Mary McPheeters and married Margaret Anderson on 12-25-1787.
He served under Col. Hugler in the Revolutionary war. Came to Indiana and settled in Washington county.

He is my ggggrandfather who fought in the Revolutionary War. He was born in 1762 and died in 1839. He had four sons and one of them was Samuel McPheeters who is my connection. Samuel had a daughter, Rebecca, who married Jesse Thompson, my great grandparents. Their youngest son was William, my grandfather. His next oldest brother, Samuel Luther Thompson, is a member of Baseball's Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY and one of the 19th Century's superstars. Still holds several records in major leagues. I bet we are connected so you then have a very famous relative now. I have a feeling that your John L. is probably descended from that line. They came from Virginia and settled in Indiana. Don Thom
