John E McAfee

John E McAfee is listed among the crew of B-24D #41-23724, "Doodlebug" which participated in the 1 Aug 1943 bombing of the Romanian oil fields known as "Operation Tidal Wave".  It was the first low level bombing of the Ploesti oil fields in Romania.  Lt McAfee was the pilot.  The crew was stationed in North Africa in the 512th Bomb Squadron of the 376th Bomb Group..  

According to John' s crew listing he was from San Francisco, CA.
