Pvt Sicfous enlisted into the US Army on October 4, 1875 in Pittsburgh PA. He was described as 5"5" tall, gray eyes, light hair and a fair complexion. His civilian occupation was painter.

On October 21, 1875, he was assigned to Company F, 7th US Cavalry at Ft. Lincoln, Dakota Territory. F Company was commanded by Captain George Yates and was known as the Gray Horse Troop.

At the Battle of the Little Bighorn, F Company was attached to LTC George Custer's Battalion. Sicfous was killed during the battle. His remains were never identified. It is likely that his body was first buried where it had been found on the battlefield.

In 1881 all known battlefield burials were moved to a mass grave on Last Stand Hill.

On the Mass Grave Monument, Sicfous' name is misspelled and reads Siclous.
