Pvt Lossee was born at Brewster Station in NY. He enlisted into the US Army at New York NY on September 24, 1875. He was described as 5'5, gray eyes, light hair & a ruddy complexion. His listed civilian occupation was showman.

On October 21, 1875, Lossee reported for duty at Ft Lincoln in the Dakota Territory & was assigned to Company F, 7th US Cavalry.

At the Battle of the Little Bighorn Company F was attached to LTC George Armstrong Custer's battalion. Lossee was killed sometime during the fighting.

Two days after the battle burial details found most of Company F in the area between Last Stand Hill & the Little Bighorn River & on Last Stand Hill.

Lossee's unidentified remains were likely first buried where they had been found. In 1881 all known battlefield burials were moved to a mass grave on top of Last Stand Hill.
