    -A telegram was received in this city this afternoon, announcing the death of Gen; John 0.-Duer, of Monticello, Ia., formerly and or many years a resident of Galena. The deceased was one of the leading merchants , and politicians of Iowa, and was greatly esteemed and respected by all who knew him. Ile, was Colonel of the Forty-fifth Illinois Volunteers during the War, and was promoted to Brizadier-General for gallant services on the held of battle. He was a son-in-law of J. Y. Wonderly, Esq.. of this city. and leaves a wife -and five children. his disease was pneumonia and of short duration. -
