he daughter of Jesse Parsley and Matilda Pearce (Pierce), Mary Jane Parsley married David Tate (1825-1864) in 1858. With him, she had three children: David; Wm. Brown; and Mary Tennessee. Husband David was a Confederate soldier. After his death in the Civil War, she wed James O. Senter, of Hamblen Co. The couple had two sons: John Nelson and Jas. Pleasant. In 1889, Mary Jane was widowed for a second time. She later applied for a widow's pension based on her second husband's Confederate army service.
