Born to Bert C. and Fannie Davis Wilson, he married Ferne Louise Brush on May 31, 1944, in Owensboro. She died Dec. 24, 1997.

He also was preceded in death by one son, Michael, on Feb. 21, 1981; four brothers; and two sisters.

Surviving are three daughters, Patricia Abernathy, Sandra Schappaugh and Rebecca Schmidt; two sisters, Orille Holmes and Middy Golson; 11 grandchildren; six step grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 11 step great-grandchildren.

He was a World War II Army veteran.

He was a farmer and worked in oil fields while living in Kentucky. He later moved to Illinois and farmed in Lewistown Township until his death.

He also was a coal miner at the Big 10 mine in Bryant, drove a school bus for Lewistown High School for several years, drove a route delivery truck for the Journal Star for 45 years and was a mechanic for various garages in Lewistown.
