LEWISTOWN, IL - Roderick L. Pollitt, 78, of 24249 E US 24 Hwy; passed away at 2:10 PM Tuesday May 5, 2009 at Graham Hospital Extended Care, Canton, IL.

He was born Sept. 24, 1930 at Liverpool Twp; Fulton County, the son of Lloyd and Lucille (Sleeth) Pollitt. He married Ruth Vaughn on Feb. 21, 1952 at Lewistown.

She survives with 1 son, William (Wanda) Pollitt of Austin, MN; 1 daughter, Pamela (Steve) Blackwell of Lewistown, 2 grandchildren, Dr. Megan Blackwell of Rushville, and Rob Blackwell of Parnell, IA.

He was preceded by his parents.

He was a lifelong farmer in Liverpool Twp. until the time of his death. He was a Korean War veteran serving in the Air Force. He was a member of Lewistown VFW Post 5001, Lewistown Lodge 104 AF & AM, Lewistown First Presbyterian Church, a former Prichard Clark School Board member, a former East Liverpool Drainage District member, a past member of the American Shorthorn Association, a member of the Fulton County Farm Bureau, and a member of the Lewistown FFA Alumni Association.

Services will be held at 11 AM Friday May 8, 2009 at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown with Rev. Danie deBeer officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery with military rites conducted by Lewistown VFW Post 5001 and American Legion Bishop Post 1. Visitation will be held Thursday May 7, 2009 from 5-7 PM at the memorial home with Masonic services at 6:45 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Lewistown First Presbyterian Church or the Fulton County Farm Bureau Scholarship Fund.
