Mr. Barbee is my paternal cousin, related to us through one of my paternal great grandmothers, Mrs. Roberta Bobbett (Barbee) Thomas.

Paul Barbee was the utimate genealogist. While he did paid research, he was too giving in doing free research for others. His work sometimes was not credited to him and usurped by others who forgot him altogether. Despite having college degrees on the bachelor then associate levels, not having a graduate degree likely added to his exploitation.

He did a family history, and although the newspaper obituary stated that he traced his family back to the 1800s, it was indeed the 18th century, including free Black Revolutuonary patriots. He is buried in the Salisbury National Cemetery in Rowan County, North Carolina, dying a few months after his late mother, Mr. Lille Barbee Bullock. The tombstome photograph is courtesy of Mrs. B.
