Clarence Den Hartog, 73, of Orange City, died Sunday, January 23, 1994, at the Orange City Municipal Hospital.
Services were held Tuesday at the Calvary Christian Reformed Church in Orange City with Pastor Jack Gray officiating. Burial was in West Lawn Cemetery Visitation was Monday, with the family present at VanEtten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home in Orange City.
Mr. Den Hartog was born January 28, 1920, in Orange City, the son of Henry J. and Gertrude (Timmer) Den Hartog. He was employed by the Den Hartog Brothers Garage. During World
War II, he served in the U.S. Army in the China-Burma-India campaign. On August 14, 1946, he married Jeanette "Jackie" De Jager in Orange City. The couple made their home in Orange City, where he was a mechanic at the Auto Service Garage. In 1952, he purchased the business, which he operated until 1979. He then worked at De Jong Oil and Repair until his retirement. Mrs. Den Hartog died February 25, 1990, in Orange City.
Mr. Den Hartog was a lifelong member of Calvary Christian Reformed Church, where he had served on the Consistory as a deacon. He had served on the boards of directors of the Orange City Christian School, Unity Christian High School in Orange City and Northwest Iowa Technical College in Sheldon.
