Glen Meredieth Branton was born Nov 1, 1926 in Hilburn,an oil field, near Rising Star, Texas. Glen was the son of Garland Glen Branton, County Treasurer of Eastland County, and Ruth Irene Clark Branton. Glen served in the US Navy in WWII. He was critically injured in an explosion in Sasebo Bay Harbor in Japan. In civilian life, he attended and graduated Hardin Simmons University. For the next twelve years he worked as a geologist, traveling the southern states. Aug 13, 1960, Glen married Winnie Beryl Stanford, daughter of Marguerite Perry Stanford, in North Richland Hills, Texas. Vows were repeated a week later at St Louis Cathedral in New Orleans, Louisiana. Glen and Winnie made their home in Odessa, Texas where they were gifted with three children, William Josh (1965), Lucy Beth (1966), and Betty Glen (1968). Glen Meredieth died Jan 26, 2006 in Wylie, Texas and is buried in the National Cemetery.
