In the photo of four soldiers, dad is the second from the right.

Dad received two Purple Hearts while in France. One for falling in a foxhole while intoxicated. The second was a bit more serious. Had reached the rank of Tech Sargent. He said he only moved up because there were always openings. Dad was following a tank which got hit by a mortar shell. He woke up briefly in New York and again in Orlando, Fl. Said noises woke him up. Got out of bed and saw a parade. A nurse came in and told him the war was over. Dad had been "out" for about nine months and weighed only 90 pounds. Other than that, he didn't talk about the war much, a little about Omaha Beach. Looking back toward the channel and seeing things that still gave him nightmares twenty years later.

I keep looking for pieces that will fill the puzzle I did not know to ask for, when i was younger. Any help would be appreciated. Dad did have an old dollar bill that stayed in his wallet. It was signed by all of his close Army buddies. It is worn and creased making the names unreadable.
