Grandmother Hickox, when I was a little boy, told me that she wanted to return to France to visit the gravesite of her son, Louis J. Griffin. She had been there one time before when she attended the Pilgrimage of World War I Mothers. She would like me to go with her, she said. Sadly, we never did make that trip. Grandmother Griffin Hickox was born Catherine Luke, daughter of Robert Luke and Annie Bustiss, England 15 Nov 1872.

I know very little more about this man, my half-uncle. He was my mother's half-brother by virtue of Carrie's second marriage to my mother's father, George S. Hickox. My mother, Jane (Jennie Roy) Hickox, was the only child of Carrie's marriage to my mother's father, George S. Hickox.

I am pursuing further information about Louis in the course of investigating family genealogy of my Grandfather Hickox. It is an absorbing adventure learning about these much loved people of my childhood and early adulthood.
