Ruby P. Saling, 94 of Raytown, Missouri, formerly of Holden passed away Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence.
Ruby was born May 9, 1918 in Shawnee Mound, Missouri daughter of James O. and Rosetta (Little) Anders. She was united in marriage to Albert Lee “Bud” Saling on July 14, 1937 in Warrensburg. The couple made their home near Holden until moving to Kansas City in 1950. They moved to Raytown in 1953. Ruby was employed at Milgram Food Store in Raytown for twelve years. She was a member of the Retail Clerk Union. She enjoyed embroidery, word search puzzle books and especially her grandchildren. Ruby was a member of Countryside Methodist Church in Raytown.
Survivors include her son: Robert Saling (Judy) of Kansas City, MO; daughter: Norma “Kay” Nicks (James) of Blue Springs; six grandchildren: Vicki Vander Laan (Randy) of Littleton, CO; Randy West (Carrie) of Raytown, MO; Jim West of Littleton, CO; Angela Saling of Kansas City, MO; Stefanie Wahlen (Brian) of Raytown, MO and Ryan Saling (Rebecca) of Lee’s Summit, MO; fifteen great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud; infant son, Larry Lee Saling; two brothers: Frank Anders and Norman Anders; and four sisters: Lottie Sell, Dorothy Milligan, Marguerite Coggins and Kathryn Cook.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at Williams Funeral Chapel in Holden with her grandson, Brian Wahlen officiating. Interment will follow in the Holden Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rod Nicks, Dayton Saling, Dylan Wahlen, Randy West, Ryan Saling and Nick West.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
