Born in New Yrok City, NY to William Patrick Kelly and Elizabeth Barclay, in 1871

He advanced himself working in a bank, stock office, eventuall in a Railroad/Steamship Co. as a Stenographer,Clerk, Lawyer, the Corporate Secrectary, Treasurer.

He was a Boarder in the Murtha residence. He married a daughter of Michael Murtha of Brooklyn, NY.

She was a graduate of Hunter College, which was uncommon inthe 1900.

They moved to Morris Ave, Bronx. Not having any chiuldren of their own, they invited George A. Ward, her Nephew, a son of George F. Ward, and her sister Minnie Mae Murtha Ward to live with them. In 1915, at Age 13 he is entered in Clason Point Military Academy, which later became LaSalle Academy.

in 1925, we find John H, Katherine Kelly and George A Ward age 23 still at their home on Morris Ave.

In the 1920's Katherine tries her hand in Real Estate, but records reveal it was not successful. In 1927 she dies, and there is a note of appreciation by the Alumni Association of Hunter College, where she is a Secretary of a Chapter.

Following Katherine's death, John Henry moves top Gramatan Hotel in Bronxviille, Westchester County, New York. He is still listed there in 1940 and upon his daeth.

In 1946 John mentions George A. in his Last Will. When probated in Dec 1949, it is noted that George A. is Deceased.

We were told by family members, that John Henry Kelly had offered through his connections, employment to his brother William Patrick, but it was conditioned on his being sober and limiting his alcohol consumption. That proved to be unacceptable to William Patrick.
