Daughter of Charles and Minnie Van Schoick.

She was a Nurse.

She had her first plane ride when pilots were barnstorming cornfield. For 20 years she led a secret aviator life because she knew her mother and sister would not approve.

Miss Van Schoick was a charter member of the Civil Air Patrol from 1941, and during World War II she flew a plane for target practice at Ft. Sheridan. The guns were not loaded. On weekends she stood guard duty at air fields with a loaded gun.

She retired from nursing in 1967 but retained her rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Civil Air Patrol.

She was a member of the Methodist Church, The Daughter of The American Revolution, Daughters of Civil War Veterans, The Red Cross, and the Pioneer Flyers OX5 club of Chicago, Illinois.
